The Best RVs for Couples (2027 Models)

Updated 2026-10-16 · ACamper RV Research

For most couples, the best RV is a 26–34 foot travel trailer with a walk-around bed and a real living area. The Grand Design Imagine 2970RL is our top pick: rear living with a tri-fold sofa, theater seats, an island kitchen and a front queen. Used ones start under $20,000.

On a tighter budget, the Keystone Coleman Lantern 25REX gets you a 70" × 80" king, a 16 cubic foot fridge and a fireplace from about $27,000 new. For a step up in build, the Brinkley Model I 265 has a 66" × 80" king and a heat-pump A/C.

If you want a fifth wheel, the 2027 Keystone Montana 3100RL is the couples' Montana now. Keystone dropped the 3123RL, 3761FL, 3781RL and 3231CK for 2027.

What makes a great couples' RV

A walk-around bed

Climbing over your partner gets old. Look for a queen or king with space on both sides. Many couples' trailers now offer a 70" × 80" or 66" × 80" king.

Two places to sit

Theater seats or recliners plus a dinette or sofa let you each have a spot. Rear-living layouts put the living room at the back with big windows.

A kitchen you can both use

An island or long counter means two people can work without bumping. A bigger fridge (10–16 cubic feet) means fewer grocery stops.

The right size for where you go

Under 30 feet fits most state and national park sites and is easier to tow. 30–36 feet gives you a separate living room. Over 36 feet is mostly for RV parks.

Couples' travel trailers

This is where most couples end up: lower cost than a fifth wheel and no bed hitch in your truck.

Grand Design Imagine 2970RL: Best overall

It has a real living room at the back: a tri-fold sofa under the rear windows, theater seats and a freestanding dinette in the slide. The island kitchen in the middle has room for two to cook. The bedroom is up front with a walk-around queen, and a 90-gallon grey tank means fewer trips to dump. It's been built since 2017, so there's a deep used market.

Watch for: At 34 feet and over 10,000 lbs GVWR, it's a big trailer for two. The fresh tank is 45 gallons.

Keystone Coleman Lantern 25REX: Best value

It's hard to find a king bed this cheap. The front bedroom has a 70" × 80" king with nightstands, and the rear kitchen has a 16 cubic foot fridge, an air fryer and a 65" TV fireplace. There are theater seats, a dinette, a 30" × 40" shower, and 2,200 lbs of cargo capacity. It's also one of the most-listed couples' trailers in our inventory.

Watch for: Coleman is Keystone's entry-level line, so finishes are basic. The black tank is 34 gallons.

Brinkley Model I 265: Best premium travel trailer

Brinkley's fifth-wheel build in a 30-foot trailer: an 8-inch I-beam drop frame, an 18,000 BTU variable-speed A/C with a heat pump, and a front 66" × 80" king with a split-level wardrobe. The rear bath has a 42" × 30" shower. Theater seats, a pull-out dining table, a fireplace, dishwasher prep and a 12 cubic foot fridge round it out.

Watch for: It sleeps two, so there's no guest bed. It costs about $15,000–$25,000 more than a Lantern of similar size.

Forest River Rockwood Mini Lite 2523MBR: Best light couples' trailer with a real bedroom

The queen bedroom sits in a slide in the middle of the trailer with washer/dryer prep, and the kitchen is across the front. That's unusual in a 26-foot trailer, and Camping World picks it for couples. It has an aluminum frame, a laminated roof, an 18,000 BTU ChillCube A/C, theater seats and a rear bath. Standard equipment includes 200 watts of solar, an 1,800-watt inverter and Starlink prep.

Couples' fifth wheels

For couples who travel for months at a time. These need a 3/4-ton or 1-ton truck with a bed hitch.

Keystone Montana 3100RL: Best couples' fifth wheel

It has power theater seats and a desk in one slide, an island kitchen with dishwasher prep and a 20 cubic foot fridge with an ice maker, a rear sofa and a ceiling fan. The front bedroom has a king and washer/dryer prep. There are three A/Cs (18,000 BTU ChillCube with a heat pump plus two 13,500s), and 3,970 lbs of cargo capacity. Keystone markets Montana as America's best-selling luxury fifth wheel.

Watch for: The fridge is 12-volt. Keystone's warranty says to use the RV "solely for recreational camping," so read it if you plan to live in it.

Leisure Travel Vans Unity U24MBL: Best couples' motorhome

Leisure Travel Vans' Murphy bed Unity is a long-time favorite of couples. During the day, the slide is a lounge with two reclining chairs and a table. At night the bed folds down over it. For 2026, Leisure Travel redesigned the lounge and renamed it U24MBL. It has a Truma heat-pump A/C, Truma heat, a rear bath with a shower skylight, and lithium power with a 3,000-watt inverter on most builds.

Watch for: New prices are high, and the tanks are small (25 gallons fresh). Used U24MBs hold their value well.

Picks other lists get wrong

Keystone Montana 3123RL, 3761FL, 3781RL and 3231CK

These are common couples' recommendations, but Keystone cut the 2027 Montana lineup to five floorplans: 3100RL, 3500RD, 3600RO, 3800FL and 3900RK. The older ones are now leftover or used buys. Used 3761FLs start around $45,000.

Rockwood Ultra Lite 2908SRL

It appears in Camping World's show coverage, but it isn't in the 2027 Rockwood Ultra Lite spec sheets. The current rear-living Ultra Lites are the 2916RL and 2921RL.

Leisure Travel Vans Unity U24MB

The classic Murphy-bed Unity is now the U24MBL with a redesigned lounge. A used U24MB is still one of the best values in couples' motorhomes.

FAQ

What is the best RV for a couple?

For most couples, a 26–34 foot travel trailer with a walk-around bed and rear living, like the Grand Design Imagine 2970RL. On a budget, the Keystone Coleman Lantern 25REX has a king bed from about $27,000.

What size RV is best for two people?

25–32 feet is the sweet spot. It's big enough for a separate bedroom and two places to sit, and small enough for most park sites and a half-ton or 3/4-ton truck.

Is a fifth wheel or travel trailer better for a couple?

A travel trailer is cheaper and leaves the truck bed free. A fifth wheel tows more steadily and has more storage and a raised bedroom, which suits couples who travel for months. Fifth wheels need a heavier truck.

Did Keystone discontinue Montana floorplans for 2027?

Yes. The 2027 Montana lineup is the 3100RL, 3500RD, 3600RO, 3800FL and 3900RK. Floorplans like the 3123RL, 3231CK, 3761FL, 3781RL and 3941FO were dropped.

How we researched this

We started from Camping World's and Bish's RV couples guides and the most-listed 2027 couples' floorplans in the ACamper catalog.

Bed sizes and layouts were read off each 2027 manufacturer drawing. Specs come from the 2027 spec sheets.

We checked current lineups (Keystone Montana, Rockwood Ultra Lite, Leisure Travel Unity) to catch dropped floorplans.

Prices and counts come from ACamper's crawl of dealer inventory through Oct 14, 2026.
