The Best Class C Motorhomes (2027 Models)

Updated 2026-10-16 · ACamper RV Research

For most couples, the best Class C is the Jayco Redhawk 24B. It's 26' 8" long on a Ford E-450 with the 7.3L V-8, it has a rear bath with a 30" × 36" shower, and new ones list from about $100,000 at dealers.

For families, the Thor Four Winds 28Z sleeps seven with a cab-over bunk, a dinette and a jack-knife sofa, and used ones start under $30,000. For better fuel economy, the Winnebago View 24D on a Mercedes Sprinter diesel is the long-running favorite.

Check bed sizes on the floorplan. Several popular Class Cs have a 60" × 70" or 60" × 74" "queen," which is shorter than a standard 80-inch queen.

How to pick a Class C

Gas Ford or diesel Sprinter

Most Class Cs ride on a Ford E-350/E-450 with a 7.3L gas V-8: cheaper, simple to service, about 8–10 mpg, and able to tow a car. Sprinter-based Cs use a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo-diesel. They're shorter, get better mileage, and cost more to buy and service.

Real bed sizes

A standard queen is 60" × 80". Many Class C rear beds are 60" × 74", and some are 60" × 70". Cab-over bunks run from about 49" × 75" to 52" × 96". If you're tall, read the drawing.

Seat belts for everyone who rides

A Class C may sleep seven but only seat five in belted seats while moving. Count belted seats, not beds, if you're traveling with kids.

Cargo capacity after water and passengers

E-450 Class Cs have GVWRs around 14,500 lbs, and many leave just 1,000–2,000 lbs for people, water and gear. A full fresh tank alone is 350–400 lbs. Weigh the coach when you load it the first time.

Gas Class Cs on the Ford E-450

This is the classic Class C: a Ford cab, the 7.3L gas V-8, a cab-over bunk and lots of floorplans. They're the best value in motorhomes and can tow a small car.

Jayco Redhawk 24B: Best for couples

It's short enough to park easily and still has a real rear bathroom with a 30" × 36" shower, a 42" × 74" U-dinette in the slide, a 10 cubic foot fridge, and a cab-over bunk. The interior is 7 feet tall, and Jayco's warranty is two years. Camping World picks it for active retirees.

Watch for: The rear queen is 60" × 70", 10 inches shorter than a standard queen. The black tank is 31 gallons.

Thor Motor Coach Four Winds 28Z: Best for families on a budget

It has a big 52" × 96" cab-over bunk, a 71" dinette and a 68" jack-knife sofa that all make beds, plus a rear 60" × 74" queen. It's been built since 2015, so there are lots of used ones.

Watch for: The shower is 24" × 36", and there's no grey-tank figure on the spec sheet, so ask. Older units vary a lot in condition, so get an inspection.

Jayco Greyhawk 29MV: Best for longer trips

Two slides give it a living room: a 60" tri-fold sofa (or optional theater seats), a 42" × 70" dinette, and a rear bedroom with washer/dryer prep. There's an A/C with a heat pump and an optional 15 cubic foot fridge. Greyhawk is Jayco's step up from Redhawk in finish and features.

Watch for: The rear bed is 60" × 74". It's heavy and long for the E-450, so expect lower fuel economy and a bit more sway in wind.

Winnebago Sunflyer 26FE: Best new design

Sunflyer is Winnebago's new Class C line for 2026. The 26FE has a rear queen with nightstands, an L-shaped dinette and a sofa in the slides, a cab-over bunk, and a bath with a separate shower. Its 40-gallon black tank is bigger than most Class Cs' (the Redhawk 24B has 31).

Watch for: It's a new model, so there's no long-term owner record yet. RV Travel's review is positive, but few are on the road so far.

Sprinter diesel Class Cs

These are shorter, nimbler and more fuel-efficient, usually around 14–18 mpg. They're more expensive, and service requires a Mercedes-capable shop.

Winnebago View 24D: Best Sprinter Class C

This is the Sprinter Class C most others are compared to, with a deep used market. A 60" × 75" Murphy bed folds away to open up the slide-out U-dinette (42" × 79"), and the cab-over bunk is 49" × 75". There's a heat-pump A/C and 41-gallon grey and black tanks. The Navion 24D is the same coach with Winnebago's Itasca-style finish.

Watch for: The shower is small (24" × 32"). The 2027 MSRP is $245,000, but dealers in our data sell well below it.

Dynamax Isata 3 24FW: Best premium Sprinter Class C

Dynamax (now part of Forest River) builds higher-end Sprinter coaches. The 24FW has a corner queen in the rear, a booth dinette in the slide, a ducted heat-pump A/C, and an optional cab-over bunk. Used ones are plentiful, and Camping World names the Isata 3 among its top diesel Class Cs.

Winnebago Ekko 23B: Best AWD adventure Class C

Ekko is Winnebago's four-season adventure Class C. The 23B has twin 30" × 80" beds that convert to a flex bed, a pop-top for two more, a rear gear garage, and 50 gallons of fresh and 51 of grey, which is huge for a 24-foot coach. Its AWD Sprinter chassis is the same one used on the Revel van.

Watch for: The toilet setup differs from a standard black tank; ask before you buy. The fridge is 5.3 cubic feet.

Super C

A Super C is built on a heavy-duty truck chassis, with much more cargo capacity and towing capability. They're for full-timers and people who tow a truck or a trailer.

Grand Design Lineage Series F 31ZW: Best Super C

It has a 4×4 F-600 chassis with the 6.7L Power Stroke diesel and a 22,000 lb GVWR, which means real room for gear, water and a tow vehicle. It also has 900 watts of solar with lithium, a rear king, power theater seating, a booth dinette and washer/dryer prep. The 79-gallon fresh tank is the biggest here.

Watch for: The price is double a gas Class C, and a 33-foot 4×4 truck chassis needs room to park.

Picks other lists get wrong

Coachmen Cross Trek

At least one 2026 "best Class C" list still names the Cross Trek. Coachmen renamed it the Cross Trail in 2021, so new ones are sold under that name. A 2020–2021 Cross Trek is a used buy.

"Queen bed" on the spec sheet

Many Class C spec sheets say "queen" for beds that are 60" × 70" or 60" × 74". The Jayco Redhawk 24B's rear bed is 60" × 70" on the 2027 drawing. If you're over about 5' 10", check the drawing, not the spec line.

FAQ

What is the best Class C motorhome?

The Jayco Redhawk 24B for most couples: 26' 8" long, 7.3L V-8, a real rear bath, and new from about $100,000. For a family, the Thor Four Winds 28Z, and for fuel economy, the Winnebago View 24D on a Sprinter diesel.

Is a gas or diesel Class C better?

Gas Ford E-450 Class Cs are cheaper to buy and service and come in more floorplans. Sprinter diesel Class Cs get better mileage and drive more like a van, but cost more. Super Cs on heavy-duty diesel chassis are for heavy towing and full-time use.

What size Class C should I get?

Under 27 feet fits most state and national park sites and is easier to drive. 28–32 feet adds a real living room with slides but is harder to park and gets worse mileage.

How much does a Class C motorhome cost?

New gas Class Cs list for $155,000–$190,000 MSRP but sell at dealers for about $90,000–$145,000. Sprinter diesel Class Cs run about $110,000–$210,000 at dealers. Good used ones start around $30,000–$60,000.

Does Coachmen still make the Cross Trek?

No. Coachmen renamed the Cross Trek the Cross Trail in 2021. New units are sold as the Cross Trail.
