Choke Canyon State Park sits on the shore of Choke Canyon Reservoir in South Texas, between San Antonio and Corpus Christi. The Calliham Unit is the full-service side with campsites, cabins and group facilities. The South Shore Unit is for day use only, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Campsites with electricity have water and 50 amp hookups, a picnic table, and a fire ring or grill. Walk-in tent sites sit about 50 yards from the parking lot. The 20 cabins are air-conditioned but have no bathrooms, and restrooms with showers are nearby.
The park suits families who want to fish, bird and swim. Groups can rent group halls, pavilions and a gymnasium, or use the youth group camp.
